Day 8

Students in Beijing, China
Today was our first full day in Beijing, China. We first traveled to Microsoft. After a brief overview of Microsoft and the Chinese economy, we explored new Microsoft technologies. Most of the new devices featured touch screens, including a table that can be used to share photos, draw pictures, play games, and view close to real-time maps. We then visited Ernst & Young and were given a tour of their facilities. Next, we explored a market of small shops, including many antique shops. Finally, we had dinner at the Quanjude Roast Duck Restaurant with Greg Buteyn, Partner, Ernst & Young, and his family. The dinner featured a variety of Chinese dishes, including the famous roast duck. After the dinner, Greg and his family discussed their move from the United States to China three years ago. They spoke of the challenges and also the rewards of living in China.
